Slender and apparently less impressive than its 526 cm in length would suggest, blends the qualities of a flagship with the driveability and performance typical of Italian sports production: the steering of the Maserati Quattroporte is solid and direct and the insertions in the corners very fast despite the mass that exceeds 1900 kg. The high lateral holding limits make it possible to take full advantage of the remarkable performance of the two engines in the range, a 530 hp 3.8 V8 and a 409 hp 3.0 V6 (the latter combined with all-wheel drive), both with direct petrol injection and supercharged by double turbocharger. Also listed on the turbodiesel, based on a 3.0 V6 of 250 or 275 hp.
The gearbox of Maserati Quattroporte is a very fast automatic-sequential eight-speed ZF, which offers Normal or Sport mode, which can also be combined with the manual selection of the ratios (but the steering wheel paddles are standard only in the V8); and there is also the ICE button, which softens the dispensing, making it easier to drive on poor grip surfaces and reducing consumption and emissions.
A successful cocktail of elegance and sportiness, the interior of the Maserati Quattroporte offers plenty of legroom even for those who travel behind, yet the central seat of the sofa is sacrificed compared to the other two; among the options there is the pair of single rear seats, which, however, make the fractioned and reclining backrest (which, if necessary, allows to expand the trunk).
The large, essential console is dominated by the 8.4-inch touch screen that also serves the navigator (standard) and offers the “climate” controls right at your fingertips. The dashboard of Maserati Quattroporte is also impressive, with a high-definition color central screen showing the contour information.
